1. Start With a View at Prescott Park
Prescott Park gives you a bird’s-eye look over Medford without requiring a huge trek.
You’ll wind up a road through a residential area before hitting trailheads surrounded by mountain views and rolling hills.

The trail system here offers a variety of options—perfect for hikers looking for quick nature access without leaving town. This was a perfect hike for us when we needed a leg stretcher on our Oregon road trip!
2. Paddle or Camp at Agate Lake County Park
Agate Lake is a quiet, scenic spot just outside Medford that’s perfect for a peaceful paddle or lakeside picnic.
There’s kayak access, soft shoreline areas for relaxing, and views of snow-capped mountains in the distance.

It’s a mellow alternative to busier water spots and you might even catch a few locals camping on the opposite shore.
3. Hike Upper Table Rock for Iconic Valley Views
The Upper Table Rock Trail (3.7 miles, 708 ft elevation gain) is one of the most popular hikes in the region—and for good reason.

After a moderate uphill climb, you’re rewarded with sweeping views over the Rogue Valley from a dramatic, flat-topped lava mesa. Go early to beat the heat, and note: no dogs allowed.
4. Float, Picnic, or Explore at TouVelle State Recreation Site
This local favorite sits right on the Rogue River and draws families and friend groups for sunny weekend hangs.

There’s trail access, tons of grassy picnic space, and a nearby boat launch where you might catch folks floating or fishing.
We stopped by on a Sunday and saw everything from rafters and boaters to cornhole games and birthday parties.
5. Hop on a Rogue Jet Boat Adventure
If you like your river views with a side of adrenaline, you can join a high-speed scenic jet boat tour or rapid rafting along the Rogue River!

It’s a splashy, loud, totally fun way to see the landscape from the water—and if you’re not ready to ride, it’s also entertaining to watch them zip by from the riverbank.
6. Watch Rafters at Ti’lomikh Falls (Or Join ’em!)
Ti’lomikh Falls is a culturally significant site near Gold Hill—and while it isn’t much of a hike, it’s a cool place to stop.

Head to the Story Telling Stone viewpoint for a great angle of the falls. From here, you can sit riverside and watch rafters drop through the whitewater. It’s a fun little detour if you’re in the area.
Not much of an onlooker, and would prefer to be in the raft going down the waterfall yourself? Check out this rafting adventure.
7. Visit Medford Railroad Park
This quirky local spot is run by volunteers and features historic train cars, model railroads, and mini train rides. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in town.

Families love it—and it’s right near the Bear Creek Greenway bike path, though we recommend hopping on that trail further outside of town for a better ride.
8. Swim or Paddle at Lake of the Woods
About an hour from Medford, this is one of the best nearby lake escapes.
It’s got classic summer vibes: boats, kayaks, cabins, floating docks, and a pine-scented trail circling the shoreline (6.4 miles, easy loop).

The hike’s lovely, but let’s be real—you’re here for the lake life.
If you’re continuing on your trip, check out what to do in Klamath Falls.
9. Spend a Day at Valley of the Rogue State Park
Right off I-5 but surprisingly scenic, this park offers riverfront trails, biking, camping, and even a historic wagon for a little Oregon Trail aesthetic.

The Mountain of the Rogue bike trail system is here too—complete with serious climbs and rewarding downhill runs.
Even if you’re not biking, the picnic and hiking options make it worth a visit.
10. Grab a Brew (or Two)
We tossed back some IPAs at Common Block Brewing Company downtown—a chill, spacious spot with indoor-outdoor seating.

Another solid option: Walkabout Brewing Co., a bit more tucked away but known for fun events and a strong local following. Perfect post-hike reward, no matter which trail you crushed.

11. Take a Day Trip to Ashland
Just 20 minutes south, Ashland offers Shakespeare, boutique shops, and tons of food options.

Walk Lithia Park, stroll the downtown plaza, or catch a play at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. It’s an easy add-on if you’re based in Medford and want to mix things up for the day.
If you’re road tripping south, make sure to check out everything to do at Mount Shasta!
