That’s why Point Bonita Lighthouse was built in 1855, becoming the third lighthouse on the West Coast to help guide ships to safety.

Near the end, you’ll pass through a tunnel that opens up to dramatic coastal views and leads you right to the lighthouse, perched on a rocky outcrop. This is the only lighthouse in the USA that’s reached via a suspension bridge!
When to Visit Point Bonita Lighthouse (Timing is Key!)
The lighthouse is only open on Fridays through Mondays from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm (and closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays). If you want to access the lighthouse, be sure to get there before 3:20 pm!
Can’t make it during open hours? You can still enjoy the trail and stunning views, but the gates to the lighthouse will be closed.
