Monterey’s aquarium costs $65 an adult, Oregon’s runs $29.95 on weekdays, and Seattle’s price changes with the date
One West Coast aquarium charges $65 for an adult ticket, and another charges $29.95 on a weekday. Both put the Pacific Ocean behind glass, so the price gap is worth understanding before you book.
Rainy-day season is the right time to plan this. Here is how Monterey, Newport, and Seattle stack up.

Monterey is the splurge
The Monterey Bay Aquarium lists adult admission at $65 for ages 18 to 69. It also recommends buying tickets in advance for a smooth entry.
That is the highest sticker price of the three. If you are going to pay it, give the place a full day instead of squeezing it in between lunch and a drive.

Newport is the best value
My pick for the money is the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. Adult admission is $29.95 on weekdays and $34.95 on Fridays and weekends, for ages 18 to 64.
Winter hours run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and tickets stop selling at 4:30. It is open every day of the year except December 25, though it closes at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
That makes it a dependable stop when the Oregon coast turns gray and the beach walk loses its charm. Pair it with a drive down Highway 101 and you have a full storm-day plan.
Seattle prices by the date
The Seattle Aquarium sits on the waterfront and is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., with last entry at 5. It uses timed ticketing and plan-ahead pricing, so what you pay depends on when you book.
Check the ticket page for your exact date instead of trusting a number you saw last year. Booking early is the safer way to avoid surprises.
So which one?
If you want the biggest name and have a full day, Monterey earns its price tag. If you want a low-stress rainy afternoon that will not wreck your budget, Newport wins. Seattle is the easy add-on to a city weekend.
Trip tips: grab a rental car to get out here, lock in your hotel before the good rooms are gone, or skip both and book a camper van instead.
